Apologies: Alan 6ZWZ, Cec 6AO, Phil 6ZKO and Al 6ZAY Visitors: Bob Lockley VK6KW, Ralph Deverell VK6ZAD. MINUTES: The minutes of the June Meeting were read and accepted (6KCH/6KRO). BUSINESS ARISING: Terry 6ZLT reported that the proposed meeting with the Museum Curator had yet to take place. In the meantime the matter of access to the Museum building and the Amateur Radio Equipment Room had been resolved by Phil 6AD. Telephone advice to the City that an access visit was to take place was apparently acceptable, without attendance by a City employee. CORRESPONDENCE: In: Nil Out: * Advice to the National WIA of WA VHF Group (Inc) contact details. REPORTS: Treasurer: Chris 6KCH advised that:- * The bank balance was $1654.59 * Receipts: $162.00. * Payments: $33.55 (For an official copy of the Constitution and Incorporation Certificate). Bulletin: Ben 6IC advised that an issue was in preparation and would be out prir to the AGM and Spring Scramble. Items for publication would be appreciated as always. Museum: Nothing to report. Beacons: Wal 6KZ reported that: *VK6RBS needed a site visit as the 10 Ghz transmitter keying had failed. *VK6VF 10 Ghz had been heard ar Pt peron by Terry 6TRG. *VK6RST 10 GHz coverage was to be checked by Wally 6WG. *VK6RST Esperance had been heard in Perth recently. * Other beacons were operational. Don 6HK reported briefly on a software package and newly released public domain terrain digital data which had been used to check the coverage of VK6RSW Augusta at existing and alternative sites. Improvement to the present site is desirable. The freeware software is "Radio Mobile" and is available from a Canadian site. Satellites: No report. Activities: August: Microwave "Show and Tell" night. September: AGM UNUSUAL VHF EVENTS: (1) Don 6HK reported that a number of 2mx contacts had been made via Aurora in SE VK. Ongoing investigations into Auroral Doppler shifts were aided by Spectran software. (2) Chris 6KCH had been continuing to investigate the remarkable coverage of the Turner Hill APRS digipeater during a trip down Albany highway. GENERAL BUSINESS: (1) Wal 6KZ summarized progress with the evolution of the new National WIA and proposed arrangements for the WA Division. There is to be a Special Meeting on 21st August 2004 where three motions will be put to the vote. One to decide to wind up the WA Division, A second to decide an associated method of dispersing the funds to local Clubs and in the event of failure of the first two, a third to change the name of the Division and disperse the funds using another formula. It was moved 6KZ seconded 6HK and carried that the Group exercise its vote as a member Club in the affirmative in each case. Ralph 6KRB volunteered to attend the Special meeting at 1030 on 21st August at CWA House and register such a vote on behalf of the Group. *********ACTION: Ralph 6KRB (2) Tom 6ZAF drew attention to a sale of cheap batteries at Tandy stores.
