Indonesian VHF/UHF Tropo DX to VK6

YB Band Plans

On Tuesday, 19th October 2004 a massive tropospheric duct established itself between Indonesia and SW Western Australia.

.144 MHz FM simplex signals were received in Perth by VK6ZKO from as early as 0530 WAST (UTC+8) and later by VK6IQ and VK6HK via the Cataby Repeater VK6RCT north of Perth until about 0900 WAST. The propagation repeated in the evening of the same day up to about 2000 WAST.

However no contacts were had and no specific stations were identified due to language problems and the nature of the traffic heard.

During the same period TV SWL specialist Tony Mann identified numbers of Indonesian UHF TV transmitters with both vision and sound received and also FM transmissions.

Information about Amateur Radio in Indonesia including Band Plans can be found on the excellent web site of YB0EMJ at http://www.qsl.net/yb0emj/orari.html
